Yellow, Yellow, Yellow

It has been said that 'Yellow is the new Pink' trending for 2014.  Known to the interior design industry as the 'sunshine colour' and associated with the sun and summer, yellow prompts the feelings of happiness and is guaranteed to lift mood and no doubted lay brighten up a space.

Yellow tends to be a busy, high energy vivid colour that is best used in small doses.  The most common way to add this cheerful colour is to accent the space with cushions, throws, artwork and other accessories.  However, if you feel daring you can go all out and paint a large wall or add small furniture pieces such as a sofa to dominate the space.  This will be sure to give you the wow factor, draw your attention and create high contrasts.

From bright to soft and subtle, yellow comes in a whole range of tones, so if that bright primary yellow is too overpowering for you, there are so many different hues to choose from that may be more calming on the eye.  Yellow blends nicely with most colours to add warmth and depth into a space.  So whether you're adding it to a classic or contemporary interior, you are bound to find a shade that suits your style and taste.

Just remember like everything, there is a limit.  Too much of something can start to annoy you, so choose your shade wisely.
